The menu sounded great-however the execution of the menu items fell short. I will say there were two standouts that I would give 5 stars to-the calamari and the bread. We tried the calamari casino style-garlic butter, with banana peppers and bell peppers. However the Shanghai also sounded very good. The bread is hot fresh and some of the best bread I have ever had. I would come here just for the bread....and they keep the bread coming too! I had the chicken panroast in a saffron cream sauce. The menu stated it was chargrilled chicken- however it was not. The chicken was not grilled and it was thinly sliced...they did not give you much. I did like the garlic bread...which is their famous bread topped with cheese. The mashed potatoes were just okay- homemade though, which you could tell by the lumps. The saffron in the sauce did not shine like it should have....barely noticeable. Lots of chopped tomato in the sauce as well. Also, sampled was the Maryland Chicken that was stuffed with crab and served in a lobster cream sauce. Just okay, nothing to write home about. Seafood Sizzler- soupy looking...but really not my thing. Fish tacos looked decent. nothing authentic though.... There is a separate door for the carry outs. I hear the shrimp pizza is very tasty. Was surprised that there was not more signature dishes like their infamous "Charley" clam chowder.

Had a lunch date here today with my husband because we have tried the Deer Lake Inn and the Village of Rochester locations and were interested to see what the Roadhouse was like. I had read several of the other reviews and was a little nervous about how the service would be. However, the one thing I have found true at every location is that the waiters and waitresses work together as a team to take care of you. We always had someone checking on us, bringing bread, bringing food, and/ or asking if we needed boxes. Everyone was friendly and attentive. The food was very good at this location as well. As always, the bread is amazing. We tried the calamari and it was good. Not the best I have ever had, but still pretty good. My husband had the California Fish Tacos and he preferred the Deer Lake Inn appetizer ones over these, but said they were still good. I had the Panfried Chicken and it was delicious. Very generous portions (I had leftovers, but I did have bread and shared an appetizer). For lunch it is a tad on the pricier end, but worth it in our opinion. I am a fan of the ambiance inside, but we did sit right next to the fireplace so it was nice and cozy on this snowy day. I did not give them 5 stars because I usually reserve that rating for the best of the best, but I do not have anything negative to say about or lunch experience today. Left feeling very pleased with our service and our bellies were full.

I expected more from Kruse and Muer. The Troy location is much better, IMO. We were a party of four for dinner and ordered various different dishes. I thought the Fish and Chips I ordered were a little too greasy and they were not red hot as to temperature. The dishes others ordered looked just so-so. The Calamari appetizer we ordered (classic style) was great though. And the bread they served (a small baguette with a butter and seed crust, served in a bag) was nice and tasty. We split a couple of desserts and they were good. The coffee was just so-so. Service was very attentive and the decor was nice. Prices seemed high for what we got as well, and the tab for 4 people with no alcohol and only one soft drink came to over $ 100 with tip and tax. It wasn't terrible, but I wouldn't rush back.

Went here for the first time on a Friday at 6:30pm. No wait. Got seated right away on an uncomfortable wooden chair. The infamous bread was brought out and it was definitely good. When seeing the $13+ per entree price tag, we decided to get a large pizza with a half order of Mac & Cheese. The Mac & Cheese was good, wouldn't have been worth the $13.50 for the full dish. This thing is huge! You'll definitely be taking home a box! We got Italian sausage and smoked bacon on ours. It was good for a place that doesn't specialize in pizza. The valet parking was awkward. It's free. But, they basically take your car 20 feet to a spot you could have parked in if it weren't for the cones. Odd place to have valet.

You HAVE to try their pizza!! All the other bad Yelp reviews before must have not had the pizza. It is very reasonably priced- a large could easily feed three to four adults for $13.95 with one topping. I had a wedge salad on the side and the garlic dressing they use is amazing! The hostess and waitress did a great job! Overall this was a great Friday night out. Will definitely be back!!!

Ate here on Friday night, great service as usual I had a great Salmon dish with a maple syrup sauce, excellent. Unfortunately my wife's walleye was overcooked and hard, dry. Not good. First time one of us has had a bad meal here

Early dinner (5pm) on Saturday before a concert at The Palace. Seated quickly and service was good. Calamari starter was tasty and fast to the table. Entrees of Roadhouse burger and fish tacos were delicious and portion sizes were not too big. It was nice to be offered a top up drink on a take out cup before we left. Will come again.

Just dined here this previous weekend during their Caribbean fest and the food was excellent. I started with the Swiss Onion soup, which is just out of this world amazing. Then I had the Caribbean twin filets, which, if my memory serves me right, is two 4oz filets in a peppercorn horseradish cream sauce with crispy onion straws and Caribbean portobello salsa with a side of smashed potatoes. It was great, my steaks were cooked perfectly but I wasn't a huge fan of the sauce. The highlight of the evening was the Caribbean sticky toffee pudding cake...hands down the best desert I've ever had. The cake was the most perfect texture, dense and moist, and bathed in an outstanding toffee Carmel sauce, with a side of vanilla bean ice cream. If you dine here, you MUST order the Caribbean sticky toffee pudding cake.

HORRIBLE service for dinner at the bar. They could have cared less about us and kept dropping stuff to boot.

Food was good. Service was great. Drinks pricy.

I can just see this place on Kitchen Nightmares for the decor. It's dreadful. For more expensive prices than your regular dinner spot- you would think the decor would be better. I think McDonald's does a better job at their ambiance than this place. Food is decent at best.

My wife and I stopped for dinner tonight before a concert. Reservation for 5:30. Got seated and waited 10 minutes to be acknowledged. The drinks and bread about 10 minutes after that. Admittedly the bread was wonderful. Sadly, the bread was the best part of the meal. The service was slow and inconsistent. Our server would disappear for what seemed like forever. The table across from us were visited by their server quite often, were offered more bread, drinks, what have you. My wife and I both ordered the creamy french onion soup. It was disppapointing. I ordered the NY Strip steak, and it was cooked fine, but it was luke warm at best, and there wasn't much flavor. The potatoes "gus" were greasy and soggy. Bleh. One bite was too much. My wife got the flounder dinner. It was soggy and the flavor was drowned out by the excessive coating of bread crumbs. After sitting for 15 minutes with napkins on our plates, our server finally came to the table. She tried to shove their "dinner club" membership down our throats. Ummm, no thanks. I told her that we were all set and would like the check, and she disappeared again. 10 more minutes, we get the check. Tray with the payment sits for 5+ minutes. She comes and takes that, and we wait another 10 minutes for the change. We will not be back to this restaurant. I can say that we have had a significantly better experience at the same chains Deer Lake Inn location in Clarkston.

Sorry, but the Whitefish was not fresh, so had a strong, "fishy" taste. The veggies were bland and nothing on the plate, including the appetizers, were worth coming back.

Having once been a customer there to working there for a short time, lets just say I have seen the kitchen do things to that food that would steer me far, far away. I witnessed a cook drop a piece of chicken on the floor, pick it up then put it on the plate. Management is HORRIBLE, as a diner I would see them on their phones constantly, they were to worried about winning a popularity contest with their employees instead of being concerned about their guests. If I were the owners, I would be a little more attentive as to what actually goes on there behind the scenes, because it's not good.

members of the Kruse & Muer frequent dining club, we were really disappointed in our meal and service this evening. First off, we waited until the next table ( who were seated after us) receive their appetizer before we even placed our drink orders. And I did notice they turned that table over twice during our meal. Here is a tip: they serve prime rib on Fridays and Saturdays after 4 pm. They ran out at 7, so get there extra early! Maybe 4:30, because you're order won't go in until 5. Our food was tasty and 3 of the 4 steaks were cooked to proper temperature. One of the entrees was late to the table. I had to send my sirloin back. I ordered it medium rare and got a well done steak. Keep in mind I'm pretty easy going and if a place is busy or the service is good, I'm willing to let it go. The flavor and tenderness of my steak was not up to par with what I have received in the past. It was not grilled and looked and tasted like they put in on the flat top griddle to cook. Yes, we will go back. However, I will make sure that we do not get the same waiter again. And will most likely stick to the Rochester restaurant.

Quite possibly my finest lunch dining experience of my whole 35 years on this earth. This place is insane. Sat out on the patio and loved it. They have a special summer menu for you when you choose to dine outside. Asked for a recommendation. A lovely young lady recommended the fish tacos. Holy Moly. Unreal. I can not even describe how spot on they were. Incredibly delicious and light. Tasteful and tantalizing. I will be ordering these again. All summer long! The Flash Fried Calamari is out of this world! The pictures speak for themselves. Do yourself a favor and come here. Often. Kelsey my waitress topped off the experience with her sweetness and her desire to make sure I had everything I needed. Thanks Kelsey!

Good food, poor service. Waitress took forever to do basic service and was generally absent minded about what she was doing. Excellent sizzling seafood platter.

I have been to this location many times and I am always pleased with the food- it is excellent! I typically order one of their seasonal salads or their classic Primavera dish with dried cherries. Their pizza and bread are fabulous too. I have NEVER ordered anything bad at Kruse!

Beautiful building since the remodel. Sat on the new patio. Pretty cool. (got a couple mosquito bites though) Menu looked great, lots I wanted to try. Server was cool, but she missed a couple service steps (had to ask for silverware; slow on refills). Had onion rings for an ap. really quality. Main was the fish tacos, 1 fried, 1 grilled. Both were good. Fried had a better texture, but the grilled had some complex flavors with spices that tasted almost Indian. The "rice" that came with it was actually a cous-cous mixture that was really awesome. I also got a side of the Mac and cheese. Not the best I ever had, but really good and the Panko made a crunchy top. I also tasted one of their ribs. Nice, tender, but not dry. This was my first time at this Kruse and Muer and I definitely recommend it. The true rating is closer to 4.5... But I don't like the 3 star average it has now, it's def better than that... So I'll throw it a Bonus half star to help the stats.

The service here is hit or miss, and tonight I received some of the best service I ever have here. The food here is great. For lunch I love their chicken wrap, and for dinner they have some of the best Ribs you can get in Oakland County! The Bread is great, even better dipped in Alfredo. The Four Berry Cobbler here is great as well. As stated in my last review, I could do without the deer heads on the walls, but it is the "Roadhouse" location, so...

  • Frank S.

Sit in? No. Absolutely not. And forget the valets. Also, who was the remodeling genius who put tables outside...in the parking lot...on M-24? All is not lost however! Their kitchen is still cranking out some of the best bread and pizza on earth. Get take out. Large roadhouse special pizza, the lake salad (maple vinaigrette on the side), and two loaves of bread. You will not be sorry. Get a laugh out of the parking lot seating when you pick up your pizza!

Ignoring the chipped wine glass and the chipped decanter, we sat for 20 minutes staring at butter but no bread. The lobster stuffed mushrooms were tasty but the mushroom caps were actually tiny. My fella ordered filet and crab. 6 oz? Looked like half the size and was over cooked and dried out. We are guessing because they told us that they were wondering what table they were meant for and sat under the lamp for too long. I ordered the seafood Sizzler and it was inedible, way overdone. When the waitress finally came to check on us it was too late to order anything else because we had another engagement. Soon sad that the only thing we enjoyed was the wine.... bad service and bad food... I will stick to the Kruse & Muer in the village from now on.

Our favorite date lunch or dinner place. The bread is amazing, but make sure to ask for real butter. The fake stuff they give you ruins the bread. Try the amazing pizza. It's made of the same bread. The fish is the best in the Midwest, maybe the country! Make it a habit. We did.

I like Kruse & Muer quite a bit, but J.P. is right. They sent out a fake coupon to people who are on their email list. I was excited about the buy 1, get 1 offer, but luckily I caught the fine print in time. To redeem the coupon you have to sign up for a $25 "frequent diner" card. Some savings, huh?

Something must have changed in management here. We had heard from others not to go, but we are running out of dining choices in the area. We have now been back three times the Month of December 2008! They must have made some serious changes because everytime we had wonderful service, even the bus boy stopped to ask if everything was okay and if he could get anything for us. The food was wonderful, great sauces, many choices if going with a picky group. We have had lunch and dinner here and will definitely be back.

Lunch here was enjoyable. One of us did not particularly like the crabmelt and the manager personally expedited a new menu item out. The service was great and everyone was happy with their meal.

Like the other Kruse and Muer restaurants, the food and service were excellent. Parking was a bit limited, and they could have done a better job plowing the lot. The building looks like it was a converted home, and has the charm to match. The only disappointment was the heating in the restaurant was un-even and we were in a spot where the vents were poring out cold air (although the waitress was very helpful by blocking the vents). All in all, a positive experience.

Ugh. My girl wanted to take me out for my birthday to somewhere really nice. K&M at the Lake was a perfect choice, since I'm so very sick of Royal Oak and Ferndale restaurants. Now, the restaurant is beautiful. This is in strong opposition to the service and food, which is absolutely horrible. It took us ten minutes to get seated. This was not because they were busy or that we did not make reservations - they had only three tables of guests at the time because it was lunch, not dinner, and we in fact had reservations. After we were seated, it took another ten minutes for our server to visit the table. Our server's name was Saygen. She was fairly apologetic about the wait, which is fine. I'm not going to get upset... you know? Twenty minutes is fine, and I had great company. Once we ordered, it was all downhill. I ordered a chicken salad with dressing on the side, and my girl ordered a hot chicken dish with veggies and rice. Pretty standard affair, right? Well, my salad arrived with the dressing on it, or rather, my salad was swimming in dressing. I told Saygen that I'd give it a shot (because really, I wanted to have a good time... with gritted teeth.). Three bites in, I decided that I'd have to get another salad; it had so much dressing that it was inedible. I flagged down Saygen and told her that I'd need a new salad. Now, only fifteen minutes had went by, but she seemed to have forgotten our conversation. "But you ate three pieces of chicken." Was her response. Um... what? After a little banter, she left and returned with another salad, this time with the dressing on the side, and also something else. They'd simply dumped the chicken from my old salad onto a small plate and given it to me. Now, this is the sort of thing I'd expect Applebee's to do, but not K&M. It seemed insulting at the time, what with everything Saygen said - but you ate three pieces of chicken - like I was trying to scam K&M. It was my birthday for christ sakes! At this point, I had trouble finishing my meal. I'm no crook... and it really got under my skin that they would treat me like one. Most importantly, if we're going to pay for a nice meal, we want a NICE MEAL. I wouldn't recommend K&M at the Lake. It wasn't just our server that contributed to our bad experience, but basically everyone who worked there that day. K&M has other restaurants that, though they don't do exactly the same cuisine, they do treat their guests like guests instead of burdens.

My husband and I love this place. We frequent it often and I have to say almost every meal has been great. The crab cakes are to die for. Crab leg boil is wonderful as well. They now offer gluten free items, a huge plus for me! When you figure out how to make that delish bread gluten free I might not ever leave. This is not an inexpensive restaurant but there are items on the menu to fit most everyone's budget. Management is top notch. We have yet to be in and have one of the managers come up and greet us and ask how everything was. The decor is cozy with a true roadhouse feel, fireplace and all.

Always amazing! The bread is on point Rockeys creation pizza is out of this world good. Caesar salad, chicken tortellini, lobster and shrimp fettucini, seafood of the angels, twin filets, delmonico steak, its all incredible. I recommend their brunches on certain holidays, you wont be dissapointed!

Multiple visits and I've never had a bad experience or meal. The staff is pretty good and so is the food. On this particular night I was wanting a good glass of wine and I got it. Good quality place, just like their other restaurants.

My boyfriend and I stopped here with high hopes and were terribly disappointed. The menu looked great so we decided to go tapas style order a few things to share. Corn chowder was decent but lacking seasoning, lobster stuffed mushrooms were very tasty, and bread was seasoned to perfection. Crab cakes, however, were not good at all. They tasted like they had old whitefish mixed in and prepped days ago. Fortunately our server was very nice and apologetic, and had the manager visit us with the option to order something else. We politely declined and finished our meal. While finishing up we found ourselves annoyed by the loud, non stop ringing of the telephone, music, AND television volume all at once! We threw in the towel and asked for our check, which was presented to us while our dirty dishes still sat in front of us. Then we sat for quite a few minutes waiting for the server to pick our check back up. All in all the service was very friendly but maybe lacking proper training. Food concepts are mouth watering but execution needs work.

Love their chicken Alfredo pizza! It's absolutely the best made with their great bread. It's a must try.

Worst experience ever. The sad part, I went more than once. But, our lake house is here in Lake Orion and it's slim Pickens in the restaurant department. Service is terrible. The bartenders seem like they always want to go home early. We tried to order a pizza on super bowl sunday but they were closing early. What!? A pizza place closing early on Super Bowl sunday? They didn't even offer to make us a pizza. Again, terrible customer service. To make matters worse the food is icky. Literally that's the adjective that comes to mind, ick. Drive over to Oxford there's a couple decent options there.. Sullivan's Public House and Victoria's.

Per a friend's suggestion and critical acclaim, I stopped in here as I was passing through the Lake Orion area yesterday. Showed up upon opening at noon on a Saturday and received friendly service. I went with the California Fish Tacos based on friend's recommendation and I have to say they were pretty amazing. A lot of fish tacos I've had in the past are run of the mill...you get some sort of chopped up fish base as a meat with stuff they add in the shell. Not the case here....you get nice lightly breaded crisp flounder fillets with cheese, shredded cabbage and whatever else it is they put into these works of art. Some sort of pilaf dish on the side it comes with...wasn't so much down with the dried cranberry scene in it but hey, I'm not complaining. I can't wait to come back and try more of the menu here.

Called in for a pizza @ 6:04pm, was told that it would be 25 minutes - wrong! It's now 45 minutes later and several people have been in and out with their pick up orders. The ladies behind the counter kept telling us it would be 5 more minutes. Meanwhile, one of our pizza's came out & is now "cooling" under the heat lamp - yum; nothing like cold pizza. If I wanted cold pizza, I would've order yesterday and ate it this morning. Normally service (at least in the dining room), is quick. To bad carry out sucks.

Place was dead, was greeted by a random waitress who gave us bread. Seemed the people over 50 gained more attention than us. Never seen or heard from a sever in over 15 minutes, our bread was finished because we were starving and still with no server we left. Unacceptable! I used to like this place too

Date night tonight! We shall see :) I was not impressed with this restaurant at all. We were sat in an open windowed dining room and it was really warm outside. The dining room was rather muggy, and while I'm all for open windows for ambiance and atmosphere, this was not the place for it. All the windows open up to traffic on M-24, so all you could smell was the exhaust from the cars and trucks on the road. The food wasn't all that either. I had fish and chips, which were good, but the french fries they served it with were kind of limpy... I've definitely had better dining experiences.. I'll leave it at that.

It was the day after Thanksgiving, we decided to go out for dinner an just leave the cooking and cleaning to someone else. Our party of eight was seated right away after rearranging a few tables. Our group of eight grew to a group of 12 a manager and a couple of waitstaff moved in and rearranged some more, no problem, well done! Then our group swelled to sixteen and...wait a minute we have a special room just for times like this. They brought us upstairs to our own room where we could relax and enjoy each other and be away from the crowd. All in all the manager and waitstaff could not have been more accommodating. Now about the food and service. We had children from age 10 to adults over seventy. Hamburger to fillet mignon to appetizers. To salads, seafood and pizza. All was very good an delivered quickly and efficiently ( not easy with sixteen people upstairs). We had a wonderful time and were treated very well. Special thanks to Jeff ( manager) and Salina a hard working and pleasant waitress. :-)

I really want to love this place but it's not working for me. For the prices, the food should be better quality. It's also always hot in there, as I sat and had my dinner I was breaking out into a sweat..in January. Seems the food might be made in large batches and sit around. Not fresh to order. I had perch and it was rubbery and not even warm. The mashed potatoes definitely were from under a warmer. My b/f had a pasta dish and it was meh. Rather bland and not impressive. The bread is good like everyone says. The calamari app was also really good. The service was fine. But for almost $20 for each entrée, it's not nearly worth it.
